Supplement merchant accounts built around your catalog and subscriptions.

An account for a supplement business must fit both the ingredients and the offer customers buy. Alderwell helps nutra and supplement merchants prepare for processing partner review, including subscriptions, introductory offers and one-time ecommerce sales.

Ingredients and marketing belong in the same review.

Assemble a catalog with ingredients, amounts, formats, manufacturers and available supporting records. Include bundles and items promoted through separate landing pages. A vitamin product, a botanical blend and a new performance formula should not be described only as “supplements.”

Stripe’s policy addresses unsafe nutraceuticals and harmful claims rather than declaring every supplement prohibited. Review the actual product and marketing against the proposed provider’s policy. Do not present merchant approval as evidence of a product’s efficacy or regulatory status.

Show the complete subscription offer.

Capture what a customer sees at signup: first charge, delivery frequency, renewal amount, trial end and cancellation route. Then check confirmation emails and the customer account. Those details should agree across the journey, including affiliate pages and special offers.

Present one-time and recurring sales separately. Explain refunds, cancellation reasons, fulfillment delays and how billing questions are handled. If a trial changes to a full-price plan, show that transition explicitly. Transparent terms help the reviewer understand the transaction the customer is authorizing.

Underwriting acceptance and recurring support are different checks.

Ask the partner to review the subscription business model as well as the catalog. Then confirm the exact gateway and app can support your renewal, plan-change and payment-update workflow. WooCommerce’s official comparison shows that subscription functions vary between gateway extensions.

For a migration, identify who holds saved payment tokens and whether a supported transfer is possible. If customers must re-enter details, plan the communication and renewal timing. Avoid switching the live gateway while assuming every subscription will follow automatically.

Settlement options to ask about.

Supplement and nutraceutical stores can ask for a conventional card account or for card checkout that settles in USDC. Subscriptions, trials, and ingredients still have to be in the review, whichever payout you prefer.

  • Direct card settlement in fiat, through a traditional merchant account.
  • Card checkout with USDC settlement through a partner. The shopper pays by card; you receive crypto on the partner’s schedule.
  • ACH or another method you already reconcile.

Make country requirements and full costs visible.

For Canadian sales, determine whether products fall within the natural health product framework and have the required product licensing. Health Canada’s guidance makes classification depend on the product and its presentation; a US supplement label does not settle the Canadian question.

Compare all charges with an ordinary order and a refunded order, including recurring transactions, gateway fees, applicable platform charges and disputes. Model reserved funds separately from processing fees. Alderwell’s role is preparation and referral; your processing partner sets terms and delivers the account service.

Your preparation checklist

  • Full ingredients, manufacturers, formats and product claims
  • First charge, renewal, trial and cancellation disclosures
  • One-time versus recurring volume, refunds and disputes
  • Exact gateway, subscription app and token migration plan
  • Relevant product licences and complete fees and reserve terms

Common questions

Are all supplement businesses considered high risk?

Providers apply their own policies to the ingredients, claims, sales model and operating history. A broad supplement category does not determine every account decision.

Can a supplement subscription use any card gateway?

No. Confirm both provider acceptance and the exact integration’s recurring-payment features. One-time checkout support alone does not establish automatic renewal support.

Should I change to one-time purchases to get approved?

Present the model you actually intend to operate. If you change the offer, update the storefront and operational plan and have the provider review it; hiding recurring billing is not a solution.

Will a lower processing rate always save money?

Compare total charges and cash availability at your actual order size and refund pattern. Fixed fees, platform costs, reserves and payout timing can change the practical result.
